GEONIS for ArcGIS 10.5

A great step into the future.

We are pleased to provide you with this latest version of GEONIS.

After an intensive development phase, we are making a great step into the future with this release.

Thanks to reworked data models and configurations, this release opens up many new possibilities in working with our GEONIS solutions. In the field, at your desk, or underway. Edit your data on- and off-line, wherever you need it.

The overhaul of our solutions contains many pioneering innovations and improvements. Here we will give you a short overview of the most important changes and which benefits they bring.

Developed for ArcGIS 10.5
The overarching theme behind ArcGIS 10.5 is the use of web services as a central concept for the interaction between data and applications. In this way geo-data and geo-processes can be integrated into almost all tasks and environments. With ArcGIS you are managing not only your geo-data but through services and the capabilities for sharing and collaboration you can reach every user.
Geocom brings these advantages to life with the newest GEONIS, and makes the availability and pervasiveness of data a powerful reality.

Introduction of a global identifier (GlobalID) and why this is so important
With the introduction of the GlobalID, the seamless synchronization of data is guaranteed. Diverse systems (including those from third-parties) can be coupled with one another more easily. Also, with various Esri functions the use of GlobalID plays a significant role, for example in the replication of databases. A future parallel operation of ArcMap and ArcGIS Pro will be made easier thanks to the GlobalID.
In summary: with the introduction of the GlobalID, Geocom has made new possibilities available for better and easier integration with external systems, and has opened the way for its use throughout the ArcGIS Platform.

Improvement and Simplification of the Update Process
An enormous emphasis has been placed on an improvement of the update process, on the new «Relation Edit» tool and on the use of «Real Date» fields for storing dates. To make these easier to use, we have developed tailored courses and user documentation.

We were already able to provide a round of comprehensive update training for selected customers and we are pleased with the positive feedback we have received. Here are some of the comments we have received:

  • Update documentation for the various GEONIS solutions and customer solutions is extremely helpful and detailed.
  • New online handbooks and product Help make tasks much easier.
  • The reasoning behind the newly implemented changes has become clear!
  • Our worries and concerns about the update have been taken on board

Allow us to advise you on special offers for migrating data and training courses.

GEONIS Data Converter
The GEONIS Data Converter was overhauled from the ground up and now offers a multitude of options for the import and export of diverse data models, for example Interlis. Thanks to this tool’s FME core, many additional new possibilities also exist for migrating your data between many formats.

Introducing Web Help
We have now made all user guides and documentation available on-line as well as off-line. This brings may advantages:

  • Better search capabilities in the table of contents and index, and with full-text searches.
  • Possibility to give feedback on contents and documents
  • Geocom can easily and quickly correct documentation and make those changes available immediately.
  • Easier support

Please be aware that some web help is only available with your customer or GDN log-in.

Details about the many other improvements can be found on the new Documentation Portal and in its respective “What’s New?” sections and in the Release Notes.
